A flash flood tore through Nepal's Rasuwa district on August 26, sending water, rock, and debris down the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers toward India. By evening, India's Central Water Commission warned the wave would hit the Gandak, and officials opened all 36 gates of the Valmikinagar barrage.
