Judge Kelly granted a 14-day order restoring access Sept. 24 and extended it with a preliminary injunction Oct. 14. The White House initially denied entry to CNN's Betsy Klein and a photojournalist Thursday morning, then restored their badges around noon. Later Thursday, the White House admitted only a photojournalist and an audio technician to the Xi state dinner arrival, refusing CNN reporter Kristen Holmes and her producer. On Sept. 25, CNN was barred from Air Force One for Trump's weekend trip to Tennessee; Real America's Voice took CNN's traditional pool seat.
On Oct. 14, a federal judge extended court-ordered White House access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico, ruling that Trump's ban likely violates the law. The ruling replaces the temporary restraining order issued Sept. 24 and keeps the outlets credentialed while the case proceeds.
