Charlotte City Council voted unanimously on Oct. 26 to extend its freeze on new data centers to Oct. 18, 2027, nearly a year past the current Nov. 5 expiry. The pause stops the city from accepting or approving applications for new data centers.

WhiteFiber, an AI infrastructure company that launched its GPU cloud in January 2024, raised $310 million in convertible notes in August (SEC filing, reported Aug. 25). It used $118.5 million to retire earlier debt; the rest funds GPU servers, working capital, and potential acquisitions.
