As of September 2026: Licensed

A new Mexican restaurant has cleared a key hurdle on the road to opening. On August 18, 2026, the Virginia Department of Alcohol Beverage Control issued a restaurant license to Jose Tequilas Cocina Mexicana at 1672 Sentinel Drive in Chesapeake. The license allows the business to serve beer, wine, and mixed beverages with food, but it's not the final go-ahead.
