Terna has started laying submarine cables across the Strait of Messina for the Bolano-Annunziata power line, a 380 kV link that will add up to 2,000 MW of exchange capacity between Sicily and mainland Italy. Two of the three cables are already in place or nearly so; the third should go down by early November.
