Detroit voters elected Donavan McKinney to Congress and four new state senators on Tuesday, all Democrats. McKinney, a democratic socialist, won 92% of the vote in Michigan's 13th Congressional District, becoming the first Black representative from Detroit in the U.S. House since 2023. Rashida Tlaib, also a democratic socialist, was re-elected to her fifth term with 93% of the vote.
