Nine of America's largest banks face a federal probe over whether they illegally denied customers banking services because of political beliefs or lawful business activities. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) opened the investigation on October 14. That same day, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) released a report documenting such practices at all nine institutions.
