Romania Doicești final investment decision approved February 2026; company holds $1 billion in liquidity but remains pre-revenue
On March 4, 2026, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved a construction permit for TerraPower's Natrium reactor at Kemmerer, Wyoming—the first permit for a commercial non-light-water reactor in more than 40 years. TerraPower broke ground on April 23 with Bechtel as general contractor, making Kemmerer the first utility-scale advanced nuclear plant under active construction in the US.

Public, NRC-certified design, no operating reactor
A reactor small enough to fit on a flatbed truck started trading on the Nasdaq on Tuesday. Hadron Energy raised about $31 million in the deal, though it hasn't built a reactor yet. It now has to convince regulators, utilities, and AI hyperscalers that its 10-megawatt Halo design can produce power by the end of the decade.
