Heathcote Road climbs west out of the Woronora River valley with a single westbound lane for most of the grade. On 21 September 2026, contractor Ertech began adding 900 metres to the overtaking lane, creating a continuous 2.5-kilometre two-lane stretch for westbound traffic.
