Released special report at AIDS 2026 warning of global HIV reemergence
On Nov. 2, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave tentative approval to a generic version of lenacapavir made by India's Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. The twice-yearly shot is expected to sell for about $40 per person per year in 120 low- and middle-income countries. It cannot be sold in the U.S.

Fiji's Cabinet declared HIV a national emergency on September 16, 2026, under a law last used during the COVID-19 pandemic. One in 60 Fijian adults carries the virus, and new diagnoses in 2025 hit 2,016, a 12-fold increase since 2010.
