Google is paying homes and businesses across a 13-state region to use less electricity when demand peaks. The company expanded its virtual power plant agreement with Voltus to 1 gigawatt, about the output of a large nuclear reactor. It is a tenfold increase from the 100-megawatt deal signed in June.
