Encircling Taiz and holding supply routes

The UN confirmed Tuesday that more than 250,000 people have fled renewed fighting inside Yemen since August. Taiz governorate accounts for 76 percent of departures and hosts 52 percent of the newly displaced. Houthi fighters encircled the city in early October and blocked the road linking it to Aden, cutting both humanitarian and commercial supplies. Water production in the city has fallen by half, food prices have risen about 50 percent, and hospitals have roughly four days of supplies left.
