A study of 95,490 people in Sweden, published in The Lancet Psychiatry on March 22, 2026, found that users of semaglutide—the compound in the blockbuster drugs Ozempic and Wegovy—experienced 42% fewer psychiatric hospitalizations, 44% less worsening depression, and 47% fewer substance-use-related crises compared to periods when they were not taking the drug.
