Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces pushed down the Red Sea coast on October 5, claiming to retake the port of Mocha and key positions near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Yemen's information minister told Reuters the military now has effective control of the strait area, which the Houthis seized in September. The Houthis dispute the claim and say they still hold parts of the coast.
