Granted Utah summary judgment

Utah sued Kalshi in state court on Oct. 20, naming five Kalshi entities and two Susquehanna market-maker firms and calling its event contracts illegal gambling. The state wants a court-approved geolocation service to block those bets in Utah, and it says Kalshi collected $30.6 million to $61.2 million in fees from about 32,940 Utah accounts.

Granted summary judgment for Utah; ruling now on appeal

Utah can keep enforcing its ban on sports-style prediction bets while Kalshi appeals. The 10th Circuit refused on September 8 to pause the state's prop betting law, and last week a Sixth Circuit panel rejected the same preemption argument in Ohio and Tennessee.
