Chicago police rewrite missing persons policy for first time in a decade

Active

The Chicago Police Department has rewritten its missing persons policy for the first time since 2016. The new 20-page policy requires officers to see a missing person with their own eyes before declaring them found. It also bars officers from closing a case just because they have run out of leads or believe the person is dead.
