Police in Madagascar raided 13 scam compounds between August and September 2026. The operations had been moved from Cambodia, according to US and Malagasy investigators, and inside were Chinese-run fraud schemes, hundreds of workers, and about 20 African nationals who told police their passports had been taken and they were forced to run romance and crypto scams.
