Southbound US-131 drivers heading into Grand Rapids have been without the Wealthy Street exit since Sept. 3. MDOT now lists the ramp closed through Oct. 19, 2026, extending the earlier Oct. 1 and Oct. 16 dates. A signed detour remains in place.

The closure is part of a $9 million project replacing lights, poles and foundations on the S-Curve. A separate $1 million bridge repair at the I-196 interchange added closures Sept. 8, including the eastbound I-196 ramp to northbound US-131 and the Pearl Street entrance ramp to northbound US-131. Rotating lane and ramp closures are scheduled through mid-November.
