Then the James Webb Space Telescope started looking back in timeβ€”and found massive, luminous galaxies blazing just 280 million years after the Big Bang, when the universe was barely 2% of its current age. On January 28, 2026, NASA announced the discovery of MoM-z14, now the most distant confirmed galaxy ever observed.
