G1 humanoid used in Light-O1 demonstrations
Robot training data is scarce and expensive. Light Origins thinks internet video can replace most of it. On September 21, the Shenzhen startup released Light-O1, a model that learns whole-body human actions from online video and adapts them to different humanoid robots.

Humanoid robot videos usually show one trick per clip, each engineered until it looks right. Researchers at UC Berkeley and Stanford taught a Unitree G1 robot to sprint, spin-kick, crawl, dance and land aerial cartwheels using one training setup with shared settings.

Unitree, the world's top-selling humanoid robot maker, began trading on Shanghai's STAR Market on August 19, 2026. Its IPO drew orders more than 8,000 times the shares on offer, a record for the exchange, and shares closed up 460% at 845 yuan after spiking to 1,100 yuan intraday.
