Salt Lake City's 1% arena sales tax lands on all purchases

As of September 2026: NBA team playing at the Delta Center

Buying a $40,000 car in Salt Lake City now costs $400 more in sales tax. The extra cost comes from a 1% surcharge funding Delta Center renovations for two teams: the NBA's Utah Jazz and the NHL's Utah Mammoth, both owned by Qualtrics founder Ryan Smith.
