Leading AEP's data center power strategy

American Electric Power committed this week to nearly 900 MW of generation that doesn't burn turbine exhaust. The $4 billion, 702-MW Bloom Energy fuel cell plant in Wyoming will power Google under a 20-year power purchase agreement. AEP also bought 190 MW of Mainspring 'linear generators,' with options to scale to 1.6 GW through 2034.
