Announced provisional 20.79% turnout after authorizing election-day hour extension

Algeria's July 2 parliamentary vote ended with a provisional turnout of 20.79%, the lowest figure since independence in 1962. That breaks the 23% recorded in 2021, which was already the worst on record. ANIE acting chairman Karim Khelfane authorized a one-hour extension, keeping polling stations open until 20:00 across all 69 provinces. It was not enough.
