Bihar exam paper leaks (2016-2017)
A series of leaks and a topper scam hit Bihar's board exams. A student who topped the arts stream could not answer basic questions on camera, exposing rigged results. Arrests followed, including school officials and a board chairman.
Results were cancelled and dozens were arrested for organized cheating.
The scandals pushed India toward tougher exam-security rules and helped justify the 2024 anti-cheating law now used in Delhi.
It shows how routine India's exam leaks had become, and why students treated the 2026 medical-exam leak as the last straw.
