Shovels went into the ground September 1 for SunRoper, a 347-MW solar project in Wharton County, Texas, about 60 miles southwest of Houston. When it comes online in December 2027, it will deliver power to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the state's grid operator.

The project is a 50-50 joint venture between OCI Energy, the U.S. arm of South Korea's OCI Holdings, and Israel's Arava Power. It will sell electricity to an unnamed Fortune 100 company under a 20-year power purchase agreement. OCI describes its shift from developing and selling projects to owning and operating them as a move toward recurring revenue.
