Israel-Gaza hostage crisis and ceasefire

Force in Play

Effectively paralyzed; no presence in Gaza as of May 2026; Hamas retains de facto governance and security control

Ran Gvili's remains were recovered on January 26, 2026, ending the hostage crisis.
