Chinese private launch firm Galactic Energy reached orbit with a liquid rocket for the first time on September 1. Its Pallas-1, a 52-meter two-stage vehicle, flew from a new company-built pad at Jiuquan with no customer payload, and completed all test objectives.

The flight is step one of a three-phase plan to recover and refly first stages. Each booster is designed for 25 flights, the capability behind SpaceX's cost edge, and LandSpace just proved the landing step works. Pallas-1 now joins that race as China's constellations demand cheaper launch.
