Advocating for artist housing in the Mission
Artist Space Trust is taking applications through November 22 for the first unit at Celadon House, a duplex in San Francisco's Mission District. The three-bedroom, one-bathroom home is priced at $425,000; the trust says that is less than one-third of its appraised value.

Introduced the ordinance
San Francisco supervisors voted unanimously on Oct. 20 to bar evictions unless a tenant owes more than one month's fair-market rent. For a one-bedroom apartment, that threshold is $2,977. The ordinance still needs a final passage vote and Mayor Daniel Lurie's signature; it could take effect as early as December.

Supervisor Myrna Melgar's bill to narrow when San Francisco landlords can evict tenants as a 'nuisance' is waiting on a committee assignment. Nuisance eviction notices reached 423 in the fiscal year ending June 2026, up 31% from 323 the year before.

Will introduce renaming legislation
San Francisco's renaming working group has narrowed the choice to replace César Chavez Street to two finalists: "Las Campesinas" (female farmworkers) and "Sí, Se Puede" (Yes, you can), a rallying cry coined by United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta. The committee will make a final recommendation next week, followed by legislation, a public hearing, and a Board of Supervisors vote.

Requested 24/7 ambassadors; request denied; criticizes lack of progress

Lone dissenter in final OpenGov vote
The Board of Supervisors voted 10-1 on Sept. 15 to extend OpenGov's contract for three years at $22 million, with Jackie Fielder the lone no vote. The deal trims the mayor's five-year, $33 million request and cuts the total contract from $38 million to $28 million.
Proposed ordinance blocking evictions for tenants owing less than one month of fair market rent
Mayor Daniel Lurie declared a rent emergency Sept. 10 as one-bedroom rents hit $4,300 a month, up $1,000 in a year. His $30 million package caps banked rent increases and capital improvement charges at 10% a year, blocks evictions for tenants owing under one month's fair market rent, and raises Ellis Act relocation payments by 25%.
